NASA: Fungi Mushroom Forest Can Damage Detection

WASHINGTON DC - Who would have thought mildew fungi have been considered useless can bring large benefits. A team of NASA has found that fungi can be a determinant of how climate change affects forests.

A team of NASA Propulsion Laboratory has developed a new method to detect the type of mycorrhiza that attach to the roots of the tree, just based on satellite images.

To note, Mycorrhiza is a type of fungi that have a symbiotic relationship with the roots of trees mutualism. This fungus is used to enhance the absorption ability of plants. During this time there are two types of mycorrhiza in the biological world, to distinguish researchers used a special method.

The team developed a method based on satellite images of Earth's Global Forest Observatory Smithsonian Institution. It's been a long time, jungle and fungi studied so that the study did not last too difficult.

Armed with this knowledge, the team can detect the type of mycorrhiza only see images from satellites. Thus, researchers can use this method to determine how forests around the world will be affected by climate. Similarly, as quoted from Engadget,
